Thanks to Susan for posting information regarding the Georgia Baptist
Disaster Relief Communications Training in Douglasville on Saturday October 8.
If you are at least remotely interested in becoming a member of the Georgia
Baptist Communications group, I highly encourage you to participate in this
training opportunity. Our communications unit was deployed for a total of
25 days to the Gulf Coast area and we also provided operators to man the
NA4MB relay station here in Georgia to provide relay and information to the
North American Mission Board in Alpharetta and to their ICS Teams working
in the field.
Georgia Baptists desperately need to increase our volunteer base so as to
be able to better respond to disasters wherever they may be. We need
operators to go to the field as well as operate fixed stations in various
locations here in Georgia. This solicitation is in no way an attempt to
take away anything from the excellent Georgia ARES program that we have in
place here in Georgia, but an attempt to let everyone know of this training
opportunity. In fact my counterpart in Alabama, Jay Isbell, KA4KUN, being
the Alabama Baptist Communications Coordinator and is also the Alabama
SEC. Alabama has an excellent blend of the two groups working together to
provide a service in disasters and emergencies. There may also be some
misconception that you have to be a Baptist to take the training and
participate, that is totally wrong. The only requirements that we have
regarding the training is that you be 18 years of age, have an amateur
license and be a Christian (denomination is unimportant).
If you are interested in taking this training on October 8, you can go to
the following URL and actually fill out and pay for your registration on
line with a credit card.

If you can't make it next Saturday, there are several more opportunities
beginning in January 2006. Information regarding dates and locations is
also available at the above URL.
If I can answer any questions regarding this training or the Georgia
Baptist Disaster Relief Communications Training, please feel free to

Thanks & 73
