[ARES] FW: [Gadec] Updates to Website

Hello Everyone,

Several important pieces of information have been posted to the GA ARES
website (www.gaares.org).  As many of you know, Jim Cote, SEC - N4PRJ,
announced last evening that nominations for ARES Amateur of the Year are not
being received.  Additional information about the format for submittals and
the evaluation criteria are posted on the website.  Please review these
before sending your submittals.

You will also find information about National Incident Management System
(NIMS) compliance.  This is a major effort on the part of Emergency
Management across the country as being driven by the Office of Homeland
Security at the federal level.  At this time there is a significant amount
of variation on requirements being placed on volunteer organizations
depending on the jurisdiction, but it is expected that as time moves
forward, more details on the requirements will be forthcoming and there will
be a more consistent approach.  As more information is received, updates
will be posted to the website.

As you conduct your SETs this year, send stories about your event for
posting to the website.  This will provide others with ideas about
conducting their own SETs.  Ware County participated in a county exercise
and sent a brief comment about their participation and is on the website at
this time.

An archive of major stories such as SETs and exercises, hurricane support,
the annual meetings, and other significant events will be maintained on the
website.  You will find these stories under the "News Archives" menu bar at
the left, and as stories are removed from the main page, they will be placed
in the archive files.
