Below is a message I found on the WL2Kemmcomm Yahoo group.

Jerry is KK5CA and is ARES Section Emergency Coordinator and Assistant
Section Manager for the ARRL South Texas Section. He was one of my early
Winlink gurus.

More on the IHS can be found here:

http://winlink.org/Presentations/IHS.htm

Here is a whole nation that is basically setup with a working digital
network almost overnight using Winlink. W0MAC is a hubbing PMBO and can
keep the traffic flowing even if the internet is down.

>As most of you know, Jerry is in Honduras as part of a medical mission with
>the International Health Service. I think they have 11 experienced Winlink
>operators there and have the W0MAC PMBO running locally in Honduras.
>Thought you would be interested in the connect statistics for this group
>with the Winlink PMBO here:
>
>Last 24 hours - nearly 4 hours of HF connect time and nearly 1 MByte of
>information passed!
>
>And I suspect that W0MAC is carrying most of the mail!
>
>Voice nets are critical but can you imagine dealing with this volume of
>information that way? Think they have another 8 days to go...
