Subject: OHS/GEMA to be Activated for Severe Weather Awareness Drill

Attention all GA. Section ARES® members. The Office of Homeland Security/
Georgia Emergency Management Agency (OHS/GEMA) will activate tomorrow,
February 22nd from 8AM to 11-12 Noon time period. The purpose for this
activation is to participate and back-up the National Weather Service
during the Statewide Drill, make a presence to the OHS/GEMA Staff to
reaffirm our support to them and test the SOC equipment for any problems
that may have occurred since the last check.

The SOC will monitor the Atlanta Radio Club Repeater (
<http://www.w4doc.org/arc/>http://www.w4doc.org/arc/ ) 146.82-, pl146.2 and
assist the WX4PTC Net as needed. APRS will be tested as well as Packet.
WINLINK messages are encouraged from all EOC's that may be opened and ARES®
groups participating in the drill or individual members participating from
home. An additional computer has been supplied by OHS/GEMA IT Department
which will be dedicated for WINLINK use and this will be a good time to
give it a test run. Send a message to (
<mailto:wx4gma at winlink.org>wx4gma at winlink.org ) stating what group or
individual you're representing, location and that you are participating in
the 2006 Severe Weather Awareness Drill.

I'm still hoping we can have a Pactor III Modem for sending WINLINK
messages via HF but I don't have confirmation that the equipment will be
available as of this morning. If the Pactor III equipment won't be
available, then 3.975 MHz. will also be monitored but again, only as
back-up to the WX4PTC Net as they will be utilizing this frequency also.
Please direct any traffic to WX4GMA through the WX4PTC Net Control first
whether HF or VHF.

Please direct any questions to ( <mailto:km4z at arrl.net>km4z at arrl.net ).
Thanks for being an active part of the GA Section ARES®.

Lowry seems to be having a problem posting could the responsible individual
verify his ability to post.

>I don't know how long it takes a message to post to the web through
><mailto:Ares at gaares.org>Ares at gaares.org, but this went out at 10:40am this
>morning and hasn't posted yet. So I thought I would send it to key people
>who need to know this information quickly and maybe it will get through
>whatever moderating procedure is required before long. Thanks.
