Got this via another list I am on.. Thought I would share, as it
validates the NIMS, ICS, training that everyone has been engaged with.

Subject: Fwd: Fla and Ham activation.

I received the following from a friend of mine Dick K3MQH who now
lives in Fla. Dick is a volunteer for the Red Cross and was in the
Gulfport Ms area immediately after Katrina. Jack N3BQB

FYI After our experience with hurricane Charley and subsequent
hurricanes. Sarasota County has implemented a policy of NOT accepting
assistance from casual "walk-in" amateurs. We've established a
protocol, in accordance with the NIMS and ICS structures, that
integrates volunteer amateurs into our system by request only.

If we require additional op's our country will request same from
State EOC. IF state cannot fulfill our requirements then the request
will be passed to ARRL via National. We will be provided the names of
the responding op's. They will all report and check-in at Red Cross
HQ here for assignment.

We hope this will eliminate all of the confusion that resulted
from having more "walk-in" help than was actually needed.
