Hello to all GA ARESâ members. The Office of Homeland Security/Georgia Emergency Management Agency (OHS/GEMA) station (WX4GMA) will be active from 0800 EDT (1200UTC) to 1400 EDT (1800 UTC) on SET Saturday, Oct. 7th. For HF operation, 3.975 MHz will be monitored at the start of the exercise and a move to 7.275 MHz will occur as band conditions change during the day. For VHF, the Atlanta Radio Club 146.82-, pl-146.2 repeater will be monitored continuously during the exercise. For Packet messages WX4GMA-1 will monitor 145.05 MHz using the WA4DYD Packet Client. For sending WINLINK messages in the Atlanta area via TELPAC, use 145.07 MHz (W4PME-10 Node), 145.05 MHz (N4SEG-10 Node) or any WL Node available in your area.. The E-mail address is wx4gma at winlink.org. If you're sending WINLINK messages via TELNET, also use the wx4gma at winlink.org address. FYI, this E-mail address will work even if you send a message from your own personal E-mail provider.

OHS/GEMA has no pre-planned scenario for the Simulated Emergency Test (SET). The State Operation Center's (SOC) function during the SET will be to receive messages from any particpating GA ARESâ group and respond to any requests included in the message. Please use the SOC station as an impromptu participant in your local scenario if an opportunity arises. Or you may just want to let the SOC know you're participating in the SET. Include local group's identity (I.E. Dekalb County ARESâ), number of participants and very brief description of your scenario (I.E. train derailment with hazardous material spill). Received messages will be compiled and forwarded to GA ARESâ leaders.

Have a great SET Saturday and I look forward to participating with you in this exercise. If you have any questions or suggestions on the SET, please E-mail them to me at km4z at arrl.net.

Best Regards,

Lowry Rouse KM4Z
