April 10, 2024 – The new Basic EmComm course has not been released as of this date.
The following announcement was made by the ARRL team on Friday, March 1, 2024.
“We also will be releasing the first 2 new EmComm courses April 1. Basic EmComm and Intermediate EmComm will be live in the ARRL Learning Center April 1. With the new courses being released the legacy courses will be removed April 1. Anyone who is currently enrolled in EC-001 or EC-016 will need to complete these courses by April 1 to receive credit for them. We hope to have Advanced EmComm and ARES Leadership courses complete by early summer.”
One of the requirements for the GA ARES State badge is the completion EC-001. The ARES Task Book also includes completion of EC-001 for Level 2 and completion of EC-016 for Level 3. Adjustments to the requirements for the State Badge will be evaluated and posted as soon as a decision is reached. Information about the ARES Task Book will come from the ARRL and will also be posted when available.
great took the ec-016 class and had the section manager send letter and now arrl is going to change everything. nice. guess i wont be approved to take the test. if they are doing away with them probably have to take the new classes and get those as the old ones will be obsolete now.
Good afternoon, Michael. The change for training courses was received on Friday, March 1 and was a surprise. We will work on an equitable solution to this issue.
Thanks,
Lee
*** UPDATE***
Message received this morning from ARRL Director of Emergency Management –
“The new Basic EmComm course is not yet live. It may be a couple of more days before it is available. The Intermediate EmComm class is expected to be live from the middle to end of April. EC-001 and EC-016 will be available until Basic EmComm is available for use.”
Thanks,
Lee
Took their new Basic EmComm course. It’s very good and excellent for new hams. Old men and young ladies who have been hams for a while should have no problem passing the test. I have my cert now for Basic EmComm. Waiting for the intermediate and Advanced when they come out.
What is the source for the Intermediate Crse, ARES, ARRL?
