GAARES-P2P NET SET#2 QUICK SUMMARY & MAPPING
Thanks to all of the stations that participated today in the GAARES SET#2. The SET included many different aspects of Emcomm that GAARES is involved with. Vara HF Peer-to-Peer was just one of them. Kudos to the 32 participants who were involved with the GAARES-P2P portion!
Summary of Messages:
80m – 45 incoming, 44 outgoing
40m – 52 incoming, 38 outgoing
Total: 97 incoming, 82 outgoing for a total of 179 messages passed during the 2+ hours
That total is truly remarkable.
We are still crunching numbers on taskings and completion rate. The intention was to task every station that checked in. If you did not receive a tasking, we apologize. Things were really hectic over the first hour or so of the net.
A later after-action report will cover what went smooth and what went rough today but the bottom line was that a lot of simulated emergency traffic was passed without RMS / Internet, despite very serious QRM from participating stations on both bands.
There were 22 different taskings in use today and they were randomly assigned. Six of them required use of template forms and the rest were short message to hold down the length of the transmissions. A couple of taskings involved the relaying tasking traffic: One involved relaying a message via P2P direct to Lee Stone – KT4LS. Another involved relaying P2P traffic via RMS to the GAARES-NET and then ask their NCS today, Bill – K9HRO, to send confirmation via P2P back to GAARES-P2P. Both of these relays were successful. A third tasking involved relaying a message to the SSB Net. Unfortunately, this task was inadvertently not assigned to anyone. Next time!
Here are the mapping links for today. Once again, the choice of bands covered the state well.
Many thanks to Kory, W4RZ, for all the work he put into both the planning and execution of this event. He was the NCS operator on 40m today, as well as primary and 80m NCS last week. As always, feedback is welcome.
