The National Weather Service annual SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY (SRD) special event runs 24 hours, starting at 1900EST tonight. Please participate in this event by checking in with WX4PTC NCS at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, GA. Skywarn volunteers will be manning the station for most of the 24 hour period and will be spotting WX4PTC on Dxsummit.fi. Look for us and other SRD callsigns there as well.
WX4PTC will be operating HF (and perhaps very limited VHF) so look for the spot so you will know what frequency we are currently on. Check-in is simple. Give your CALLSIGN, AND STATE (ALSO COUNTY IF IN GEORGIA) and wish us luck! Feel free to check in on multiple bands.
IN ADDITION TO A VOICE CHECK-IN, we encourage you to send a short WINLINK MESSAGE to WX4PTC. Subject line: Your CALLSIGN, name, and county/state. After the event is over, we will acknowledge your Winlink message with an acknowledgement. If you can, use an RMS station to send the message but if you are unable, Telnet is acceptable.
We hope to hear from you tonight or tomorrow. The event ends at 1900EST Saturday night.
