GAARES-P2P NET SUMMARY FOR FEB 9, 2025
Thanks to Murdock – W4JNR, our NCS and Kory, W4RZ, who was the alternate. Very good results with message accuracy – still a couple of stubborn stations keep using grid square or not following net instructions. Please attempt to comply with Net instructions each week. We accept that people make errors. We do not appreciate people disregarding the procedures.
NET SUMMARY:
All participants were mapped except for those using “Grid Square” location (which was contrary to net instructions) and one message that had no location. For those mapped, you can click on your station to see how your check-in message rated. If you would like to get feedback on specifics of your message, just email me directly to [email protected] and I will be happy to provide you details for your message(s) in a private email.

FUN QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
The Vara Session Window has two frequency boxes where you can enter either the Center Freq or the Dial Freq. What happens if you enter our Net’s Dial Freq 3583 kHz into the Center Freq box?
A. The radio will tune to 3583 kHz.
B. The radio will tune to 3584.5 kHz
C. The radio will tune to 3581.5 kHz
D. This will have no effect on the operation and Vara will connect to NCS WG4PTP
ANSWERS:
This was easy to test if you weren’t sure. Just do what the question posed: Open the session window, enter 3583 into the Center Freq window and see what Winlink put in the Dial Freq window. This week’s results should have been 100% correct.
A. Incorrect
B. Incorrect
C. Correct: Just try it to verify!
D. Incorrect: You will not get a connection because your signal is 1.5 kHz lower than NCS. The question this week was posed because someone did just this last week and called 1500 Hz down. And called. And called…….
QUIZ RESULTS:
Answers reported in check-in messages today are below. If you sent more than one check-in message, we counted your answer only once. If you submitted messages with different answers, we took the answer in your final message.
A 0
B 2
C 32 (94 % of those who submitted an answer)
D 0
No answer 2
Total callsigns that gave an answer: 34
Thanks the EVERYONE for participating. If you have any questions about P2P, please send them to me. I may be able to incorporate them into a weekly training session.
