Your GAARES Winlink Net NCS Team is announcing a second round of trial testing using Winlink Vara HF P2P (Peer-to-Peer). The results of this second round will help us to further define the form, fit and function of a Statewide Winlink Vara HF Peer-to-Peer Net and its frequency (i.e. once per month)
On July 14th & 21st (Trials 4 & 5), check-ins via P2P will be separate from GAARES-NET activity. The GAARES-P2P tactical call sign will be used. You are encouraged to check into both the P2P Net (GAARES-P2P) and the RMS/Telnet net (GAARES-NET). You need only check into one of the two bands offered in the P2P net but, you may check into both bands (80m, 40m) if you wish.
The P2P instructions have changed so your attention to them is required for a successful contact. Changes such as the number of band sessions, 40m frequency, and different “send to” and “message address”, are only a few of the changes.
For your convenience, instructions for Trials 4 and 5 are included with this posting. Only one set of instructions is offered.
56 GA ARES Hams sent over 150 messages in the Practice session and Trials 1, 2, & 3. In order to add the P2P net to our current schedule of Winlink nets, 3-to-5 new NCSs are required. If you would like to explore this volunteer opportunity and become a Winlink NCS, send an email to Russell at AB4QQ@arrl.net.
Your GAARES Winlink Net Team will kick off Trial 4 on Sunday, July 14, 2024, and we look forward to your participation.
