ARES: 2024 AJC Peachtree Road Race Slots Still Available
We still need to fill about ten positions for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, the world’s largest 10k road race. There are positions for all skill levels, including brand new radio operators.
Shifts start by 0600 on Thursday 04 July 2024 and end by noon. The sooner we can fill these remaining slots, the sooner we will know what services we can provide the medical branch during the event.
We can also accept GMRS operators in Piedmont Park (i.e. you do not need an amateur radio license).
To sign up, visit https://atlantatrackclub.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=84589 and enter the password “PRR24HAM” to see our slot.
Please help by forwarding this message to your local club or other parties that you think might be interested in helping. You do not need to be an ARES member to participate.
Thank you, and we look forward to working with you, again!

Planning for the 2024 Peachtree has started (it is on July 4th, 2024, from pre-dawn to noon), and signups are now open. Please sign up at https://atlantatrackclub.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=84589 using the password “PRR24HAM”. Once you enter the password, you should see the ARES slot. Use this link to sign up as either an Amateur Radio Operator or a GMRS Radio Operator. Like last year, we successfully used GMRS operators inside Piedmont Park and will do so again this year.
Draft assignments won’t be available until mid June, but it is important to sign up as early as possible. This is because we’re always asked to help out more than we can with the number of volunteers we get, so signing up early lets us tell the track club and city what missions we should be able to assume early enough that they have enough time to make alternate arrangements for the other duties.
Please forward this message to your local clubs — this event is open to all levels of experienced radio operators and you do not need to be a member of ARES to participate.
Thank you for your help and we look forward to working with you again!
